A few years ago Matt became sick which at times lead him to lose up to 5kg a week. Before falling sick Matt lead an active lifestyle and played heaps of sport – rugby union, rugby league, touch and boxing, and weighed 79kg. His sickness put an end to this as any physical activity would leave Matt bed ridden for weeks.
At it’s worse in 2011, Matt lost over 15kg in less than 2 weeks. Getting mixed opinions from doctors about whether or not physical activity would help, Matt decided to give it a go.
“I was also told that it would be near impossible for me to re gain as much or any muscle mass at all as I previously had, before I got sick.”
“After many months, weeks, days and hours of pain, sweat, tears, training and suffering every day, I accomplished more than I had ever thought I could. So when I'm told that I can't do something, I love it because it makes me more determined than ever to prove them wrong. So I say bring on the next year, let's see how much further I can go.”
“Also on a side note, my sickness has reduced quite dramatically since my training has gone underway and I'm weighing in at 78.8kg at the moment.”
"Do not lose hold of your dreams or aspirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live"
-Henry David Thoreau
